Summary of Job Duties:
The Director of Career Initiatives will be a member of the Fulbright
College of Arts and Sciences Student Success Team. The DCI serves as the primary point person to employers, Fulbright College students,
staff, and faculty for career opportunities and career education. Working in coordination with UA Career Development Center and the
Fulbright College, the DCI develops professional partnerships with potential employers and alumni, faculty, advisors, and student leaders in
the College to help coordinate, develop, and provide quality career development programs for UA students. The DCI reports to and be
evaluated by the ARSC Director of Student Success or to the ARSC designee and will have a dotted reporting line to the Assistant
Vice-Chancellor of Career Services/Executive Director of the CDC in the Career Development Center.
Fulbright College will provide
the DCI with workspace and office equipment. The position is funded and administrative support is provided by the Fulbright College. Partial
funding is also provided by the University Career Development Center.
Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential
job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with
others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher from an
accredited institution of higher education - At least five years of full-time, professional work experience in career counseling,
higher education teaching or administration, business/corporate or employer relations, marketing/external relations, university
advancement/development, or a field that closely aligns with the objectives of the position - Experienced with independent planning
and execution of a significant number of successful events, meetings, and outreach programs - Experienced with independent planning
and execution of a significant number of successful events, meetings, and outreach programs - Proficient at Microsoft Office
Suite - Ability to work with diverse constituency at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to submit timely and accurate
reports - Ability to set and exceed goals
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctoral Degree or higher with more than 5
years’ experience in career education, career counseling/coaching, or communication - Experience working with Handshake, People Grove
and/or similar Career Services Management software - Experience with curriculum development in career and/or professional
education
