Job Summary:

The Vice
Provost of Academic Schools is an innovative leader that fosters relationships with the business community, which ensures the responsiveness
of the College to workforce needs. The position provides direct leadership and direction for the College’s professional education programs
and creates corporate relationships beneficial to the College and South Florida, including productive relationships with local, regional,
national and international boards and organizations and with leaders of foreign governments, businesses and non- governmental organizations.
This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year
(July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of
Trustees.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identifies
    and leads the development of new programs or revision of existing programs to meet local workforce needs
  • Leads strategic planning
    for the College’s professional education programs in alignment with college-wide goals; establishes key performance indicators for success
    and is accountable for progress towards goals
  • Actively collaborates with campus leadership to develop and implement strategic
    enrollment management initiatives for the College’s professional education programs; establishes enrollment targets by program and is
    accountable for progress towards goals
  • Promotes the College’s professional programs locally, regionally, nationally, and
    internationally through an information dissemination campaign
  • Establishes productive partnerships that bolster MDC as an
    international model of workforce development and economic growth in the community
  • Represents MDC on boards and at local, regional,
    state, national, and international meetings, conferences and workshops
  • Leads the development of workforce grants and
    programs
  • Provides administrative leadership and supervision to the Deans of the Academic Schools; Dean of Continuing Education and
    Professional Development; Director of Career and Technical Education; and the Director of Career Advisement and Internship
    Initiatives
  • Oversees professional education program accountability, including but not limited to program reviews, program outcomes
    assessment, program-specific accreditation, and annual effectiveness reports for workforce areas
  • Directs career advisement and
    internship program development and implementation
  • Provides updates to the College’s Executive Leadership; the District board of
    Trustees; and other key internal and external stakeholders as needed
  • Performs other duties as
    assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Business, Education or related discipline and seven (7) years of administrative experience
    demonstrating leadership and creative accomplishment in professional programs/ grants; or Master’s degree in Business, Education or related
    discipline and eight (8) years of administrative experience demonstrating leadership and creative accomplishment in professional programs/
    grants
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge of College organization, goals and objectives,
    and policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of the following: higher education practice and policies, educational philosophy, curriculum
    design and program innovations and community college programs (including those at the baccalaureate level)
  • Strategic planning skills
    to effect change in a multi-cultural environment
  • Demonstrates leadership and creative accomplishments
  • Strong collegial and
    interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively internally and externally
  • Knowledge of current and future workforce
    employment needs and workforce funding streams, focusing on local and regional information, but including national and international
    information
  • Knowledge of college educational philosophy and top management administrative practices and procedures; college
    curricula and instructional programs; international corporate and educational structures
  • Knowledge of goals, objectives, structure,
    and operations of major U.S and international education institutions businesses, governments, and non-governmental
    organizations
  • Strong decision-making and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of international cultures and
    partnerships
  • Effective management and interpersonal skills while engaging with a variety of constituencies
    (multicultural/multi-ethnic, international) in effect project design and implementation
  • Ability to track progress towards identified
    outcomes through quantitative and qualitative methods and use data to monitor and improve program operations
  • Ability to speak
    effectively to employees, faculty, staff and community groups
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment
    with students, faculty and staff

Essential Position:

  • This function/position has been designated as essential. This means that when the College is faced with
    an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect,
    recover, and continue operations at the College.
