“When the liver isn’t working properly, toxins ( Ammonia) that are typically filtered out of the body can accumulate in the bloodstream, causing mental changes like confusion, disorientation, and memory issues,” says Dr. Garg.

Liver cirrhosis is a severe disease that can result in complications such as liver failure, liver cancer, and even death. Treatment may include addressing the underlying cause of the illness, taking medications to control symptoms and complications, and, in some instances, undergoing a liver transplant.
