Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh detained from Jalandhar, say police sources; internet services shut across Punjab | Ludhiana News – Times of India

JALANDHAR: Punjab police on Saturday detained separatist leader and Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh in Mehatpur area of Jalandhar district, sources said. Earlier during the day, he managed to give the police a slip.
A few of Amritpal’s associates were also detained at Mehatpur while others and Amritpal managed to escape in his vehicle. The chase was streamed live from his vehicle also.
Internet services have been suspended across the state till 12 noon Sunday.

In the statewide crackdown, Punjab police detained others persons also including social media influencers.

As soon as police started chasing Amritpal Singh in the noon in Shahkot area of Jalandhar, and by the time he reached Mehatpur, his associates immediately disseminated the information about the police action. A heavy police force was involved in the entire operation.

Senior police officers are not yet disclosing about the case/s in which Amritpal has been arrested. The action comes a day before he was expect to start the second leg of Khalsa Wahir from Mukatsar on Sunday.
